In the middle there are a small handful of pix from my Pro Canon 5D mark 3; two of which I created using multiple images that are blended together to create on e picture that contains the High Dynamic Range of two or more pix.  The the camera on a tri=pod, I use the camera's precision focusing system to focus & optimize for a near, mid & far away shot. I bring the three shots into PhotoShop as layers.  I enhance each layer to further optimize then I selectively remove the 'non- optimized parts of each image which then leaves one images with the

best of each of the three.

   Typically a camera can focus nicely on one spot, things closer & farther away will not be in focus...even with $$ pricey cameras.  So this technique allows for one picture to be in total focus in every part of the image.

   Another challenge with capturing a great landscape image is the restrictions of Dynamic Range.  Classic example is taking a picture of someone with the sunset in the background...So your camera has to overcome the power of the sun with it's wee flashy on the subject, while being way over saturated by that solar energy....this usually leaves you with a dark silhouetted person with a over saturated 'white-out' where the sunset should be.  By taking two shots, one that really get the face illuminated, then set the exposure way down for the gtaring sun, combine 'em in Ps & voila ya gitchure good pix;-)

   Sounds like a lot of werk, ....it is, & you may not even distinguish these two pix in the slide show.  But if you were to create a full sized print of 2 x 3 feet or more, the details are Ah-Maze-ing!

Soi this road trip was another bit of R&D Photography with my fone cam....with the right contrast & lighting, the video images from the fone are....well, pretty astounding....there are a few pix that stretched the dynamic range of the fone camera but still paints the picture of the sites on the Trip to Hana & the return trip around the 'backside of Maui'.

Anyone interested in seeing the sites of this 'Fabled Road Trip on the Hana Highway' will be in for a treat ;;-)

   For those whom enjoy a wee bit of 'Conspiracy Theories', namely Cryptozoologist - involving the search for animals whose existence has not been proven...Will take much delight in viewing the section about 1:30 minutes in....

   ....I've captured the phenomenon of the 'other worldly - 'Rods'

"Rods" is a term used in cryptozoology, ufology, and outdoor photography to refer to elongated artifacts in the form of light-rods produced by cameras. Videos of rod-shaped objects moving quickly through the air were claimed by some ufologists and cryptozoologists to be alien life forms, "extradimensional" creatures, or very small UFOs.

Theoretical physicist Michio Kaku states that when the day comes that we first encounter an advanced alien visitor, they will most likely be in the form of nano-bot probes.

My first thought after viewing the footage frame by frame (which you get to see here as well) is that it must have been the blurred images of sticks or things falling from the trees....scrubbing back & forth frame at a time can make you forget which way they're going but they a traveling up...not sticks falling from the trees.

    The other thought that it must be fast fluttering insects creating a blur that appears to be 2 to 3" long...BUT, you never see wings!  Just a cylinder shape with the twisted double helix DNA type of pattern :-O

Ok, optics can play tricks...but then study, if you will, the trajectory path of 'flight', the 'Rods' move like.,..well a stick that was 2 to 3" long.with no visible signs of wing traces.  They don't curve like a small insect would, like curve or bend, they stay a straight Rod....

Optical tricks & Conspiracy theories...what phunn !

"They" (them that are those that have in their minds, debunked this optical event)...have stated that any insect or flying bird can produce this same effect.

    Well, then your in for another ground breaking optical illusion!

But they don't look anything like 2 to 3" twisted double helix DNA strands moving in odd stick like motions....Nope, you can clearly see the birdy wings flop up, down, up, down...& in some close up bird shots you very clearly see them thar feathered wings ;-)

 I really don't think Rods are the mini Mother ship for alien NanoProb-bots...but see for yourself
